As Chinese military exercises, US lawmaker pledges training for Taiwan

TALLINN, Estonia (AP) - Estonia´s Prime Minister Kaja Kallas said Saturday that her center-right Reform Party has clinched a deal with two other parties to form a coalition government, five weeks after a general election in the Baltic country.

France holds the rotating presidency of the European Union Council, which gives Macron a key role in coordinating the bloc of 27´s response. Next week, he is expected to be seen alongside U.S. President Joe Biden, at NATO's summit in Brussels.

Speaking at a lunch in Taipei hosted by Tsai for his bipartisan delegation, Michael McCaul, chairman of the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee, said they were there in strong support of Taiwan and that it was important democracies stood together.

They are dated ranging from February 23 to March 1, and provide what appears to be details on the progress of weapons and equipment going into Ukraine with more precise timelines and amounts than the U.S.

Outraged that Meta Platforms was allowing social media users in Ukraine to post messages such as "Death to the Russian invaders," Moscow blocked Instagram this week, having already stopped access to Facebook because of what it said were restrictions by the platform on Russian media.

And while support for funding Ukraine continues to have bipartisan support, news that US officials are often in the dark could raise questions over the sheer amount of resources that the White House continues to send to Eastern Europe. 

He vowed to push ahead with a controversial pension reform that would "progressively" raise the retirement age from 62 to 65, and suggested that people who start working at a young age would still be able to retire before 65.

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Friday wrote a fierce criticism of foreign social media firms, mentioning by name both Meta and YouTube, but he hinted that the door leading to their possible return to the Russian market would be left ajar.

Macron went under criticism from other candidates for refusing to take part in any televised debate before the first round scheduled on April 10. Even though he formally announced he is running for a second term on March 3, Macron did not hold any rally yet.

Video posted by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty shows military ambulances driving through the Belarusian city of Homel in early March, with employees at the region's clinical hospital claiming more than 2,500 bodies have already been shipped back to Russia as of March 13.

Meanwhile, it also emerged Saturday that corpses of Russian soldiers killed in Ukraine are being moved from Belarus back to Russia by train and planes in the dead of night to avoid attracting attention.
