Manila, Philippines – The brother of slain businessman Dominic Sytin, believed to be the mastermind behind his 2018 murder, has been arrested in Malaysia, Philippine authorities announced Thursday.
Alan Dennis Lim Sytin was apprehended in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, on March 22, 2025, in a joint operation involving Philippine and Malaysian police.
Dennis Sytin He was captured at the Cobra Rugby Club around 5:42 PM local time.
"This arrest is a major step towards achieving justice for Dominic Sytin," said Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo, regional police chief. "It demonstrates our dedication to holding those responsible for this crime accountable."
Dominic Sytin, founder of United Auctioneers Inc., was shot dead outside a Subic Bay hotel on November 28, 2018. Edgardo Luib, the convicted gunman, previously confessed to the killing and named Alan Dennis Lim Sytin as the one who ordered it.
Philippine officials are now working to bring Alan Dennis Lim Sytin back to the Philippines to face charges.
However, earlier this year, in January, Luib changed his story. In a sworn statement, Luib, who is already in prison for his role in the murder, said, "I made a grave mistake and can no longer live with my false testimony. Mr. Dennis Sytin is not responsible for his brother's death. I hope this confession shows my remorse."
