Manila, PHILIPPINES – In a significant development in the 2018 murder of prominent businessman Dominic Sytin, authorities have apprehended his brother, Alan Dennis Lim Sytin, the alleged mastermind behind the crime, in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia, the Philippine National Police Region 3 (PRO-3) announced Thursday.
Alan Dennis Lim Sytin, who had a 10 million peso bounty on his head, was taken into custody on March 22, 2025, at approximately 5:42 PM local time at the Cobra Rugby Club, following a joint operation conducted by the Philippine Police Attaché Office in Malaysia, the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) Special Branch, and the IPD Petaling Jaya RMP.
"The arrest of Alan Dennis Lim Sytin marks a crucial step in our pursuit of justice for Dominic Sytin," stated PRO-3 Chief Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo. "This operation underscores our unwavering commitment to holding those responsible for this heinous crime accountable."

Dennis Sytin , was fatally shot on November 28, 2018, outside a hotel in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone. The convicted gunman, Edgardo Luib, confessed to the crime and implicated Alan Dennis Lim Sytin as the orchestrator.
Philippine authorities are currently coordinating with Malaysian officials to facilitate Alan Dennis Lim Sytin's repatriation to the Philippines, where he will face legal proceedings.
However, early this year, around January, Luib, already imprisoned for his role in the crime, recanted his previous statement. 'I made a grave mistake, and I can no longer carry the burden of my false declaration,' Luib stated in an affidavit. 'Mr. Dennis Sytin is not responsible for his brother’s death. I hope this is my way of showing repentance.
